In celebration of National Walking Month this May, Milton Keynes-based children’s cancer charity Supershoes is encouraging everyone to kick off their lockdown slippers and put on their favourite shoes on Tuesday 18th May for National Shoe Day.

The date has been declared by the local volunteer-led charity as an event to take place on the third Tuesday of May each year, with the intent to encourage fellow shoe divas, welly lovers, walkers, dancers and runners to put on the pair of shoes which makes them feel most powerful and share a photograph on a message board.

The volunteer-led charity creates bespoke trainers for children and young people in treatment for cancer, and they know just how great it makes someone feel to receive a special gift of footwear featuring all their favourite things.

Sarah White, CEO, said, “Parents report that a pair of Supershoes gives their child such a boost that they can’t wait to get up and out to show off their special shoes. Even if they’re feeling really poorly after harsh chemotherapy, they tell us their child feels that their Supershoes give them superpowers and make them want to walk, skip, even jump when they’re wearing them!”
