11 people have been charged by police after a fight broke out among passengers at Luton Airport.

The incident happened at around 8am yesterday (14/05) morning, with a video capturing the events shared on social media. The fight happened in the airport’s departure lounge.

Four people were injured in the incident, three of whom seriously enough to be in hospital, though police have confirmed each of those hospitalised have since been discharged.

Bedfordshire Police have confirmed that 17 people were arrested for their part in the altercation. They have since charged 11 people with violent disorder, with those charged released on bail until a future court hearing. Those charged for their part in the incident range between 18 and 55 years old.

The force have also confirmed that they have released one other person on bail with conditions, and released the other five with no further action to be taken.

An airport spokesman told Sky News, “We are shocked and saddened by this isolated incident. We take a zero-tolerance approach to violence and continue to assist the police with their enquiries.

“We would like to sincerely apologise to any passengers affected.”
