MK Dons confirm Laurie Walker has signed new contract
Milton Keynes Dons goalkeeper Laurie Walker has signed a new contract with the League One club.
The 31-year-old has signed an extension of undisclosed length with the club, having been on a contract that had been due to expire at the end of June 2021.
He is the second of the Dons’ out of contract players to sign new terms in Milton Keynes, after striker Jay Bird signed a new deal last month.
Walker, an Academy product, made three appearances for MK Dons last season. He also played 13 times for Oldham Athletic while on loan with the League 2 club on an emergency basis for the final two months of the campaign.
With Lee Nicholls leaving the club to join Huddersfield Town, Walker is intended to be involved in the first team bubble as a challenger for Andrew Fisher next season.
Walker told iFollow MK Dons of his delight to sign with the club. He said, “It’s great to sign and continue to be a part of the project that is being built here with Russell (Martin) and the Chairman.
“Last season, I made my debut for MK Dons, which was something I’d been waiting a long time for, and then went out on loan to make my league debut and be able to get a number of games under my belt.
“I’ve learnt a lot and now I can’t wait to get back for pre-season. I’m going to give everything I can to come back in the best shape possible and earn my minutes on the pitch.”
In other news, MK Dons have been strongly linked with Eastbourne Borough goalkeeper Franco Ravizzoli. The 23-year-old Argentine trained with the club last season after Eastbourne’s campaign finished early due to the covid pandemic, and the non-league side confirmed on social media that Ravizzoli has moved to Milton Keynes. However, as of today (12/06), MK Dons have not officially announced the signing.
