Luton Town have continued their pre-season with a 3-1 victory over National League side Boreham Wood.
Victory at Meadow Park made it three victories in seven days for Nathan Jones’ side as they continue their preparations for the season starting next month, after a 4-0 win over Rochdale behind closed doors last Saturday and a 5-0 win against Bedford Town in midweek.
Against Boreham Wood, the home side had taken the lead through a goal scored by a club trialist. But a double by Jordan Clark and a strike from Carlos Mendes Gomes turned the contest in Luton’s favour.
All of Luton’s goals came in the final 15 minutes, with the team replacing nine of its outfield players after the 60 minute mark.
Luton fell behind after 25 minutes when a Boreham Wood trialist turned in a cross at the back post.
Fred Onyedinma came close to equalising on two occasions before half-time, with one creeping wide and another tipped wide by Nathan Ashmore. Onyedinma also headed wide shortly after the break.
Luton began to dominate proceedings after their wave of substitutions, and equalised with 16 minutes to go when Clark turned in Sam Beckwith’s cross.
The visitors continued to apply pressure and would get their second goal in the final minutes, as Mendes Gomes whacked home a strike from 25 yards.
Clark then scored his second and Luton’s third at the end, when he turned in Joe Morrell’s cross.
Luton’s pre-season will wrap up with two games to be held at Kenilworth Road, with the first being against League One’s Portsmouth on July 24th and the other against Premier League team Brighton & Hove Albion on July 31st.
