Northampton Town have confirmed the deadline day loan signing of Dominic Revan from Aston Villa.

The 20-year-old, who turns 21 in mid-September, has signed a loan deal until January with the League 2 side.

The highly regarded defender made a first team debut for Aston Villa in January 2021, playing against Liverpool during an FA Cup tie. Shortly after this, he spent the back half of last season on loan with National League side Weymouth.

The deal is Northampton’s second loan signing ahead of the new campaign, alongside Kion Etete from Spurs, with Jordan Flores having originally signed on loan before moving on a permanent basis.

Northampton manager Jon Brady told the club’s official website that he was happy to bring Revan to Sixfields.

He said, “Dominic is a highly rated defender who can play anywhere across the back line.

“He can play as a centre back or as a full back and he is quick, aggressive and a player with a first class attitude who made a real impact when he had a loan spell last season.

“He will add cover and depth across the back line and give us options in a number of defensive positions, he has worked with Colin Calderwood before so there is already that relationship there and we are looking forward to welcoming him in to the group.”
