Luton Town have signed midfielder Elliot Thorpe, who was available after his release by Spurs.
The 20-year-old Welsh U21 international has signed a contract of undisclosed length at Kenilworth Road. He is the ninth new signing at the club since the start of the summer transfer window.
Thorpe trained with Luton towards the end of last season, and he was released by the Premier League outfit at the end of the last campaign. He had been offered a new deal to stay with Spurs and extend an 8 year stay with the Londoners, but chose to turn it down in a bid to find first team football.
He had been linked with Premier League, Championship and European clubs, but Thorpe has opted to make his move to join the side from Bedfordshire.
The club’s manager Nathan Jones said, “Elliot is someone we’ve monitored for a while now. We identified him a little while ago and Tottenham allowed us to have him in for a few days’ training to see how his character is and so on, so we are delighted now to sign him.
“Elliot comes in as a first team professional to challenge what we have here. He’ll need game time in the development squad, but he’s someone we’ll bring into the first team and we are delighted to have him.”
