Northampton Town have confirmed the loan signing of striker Chanka Zimba from Cardiff City.
The Cobblers have confirmed the 20-year-old as their first signing of the January 2022 transfer window, and comes days after the recall of Kion Etete by his parent club Tottenham Hotspur.
The former Blackburn striker is top scorer Cardiff’s under 23s team with nine goals this season, while Zimba also made a Championship debut for the Bluebirds’ first team in November.
Northampton manager Jon Brady said that he was pleased to confirm Zimba’s arrival to Sixfields.
He said, “Chanka is a powerful striker who is a good size and has good pace.
“We obviously have an excellent relationship with Steve Morison at Cardiff and I know he rates Chanka very highly. His stats are impressive and we have been impressed by what we have seen. He has the attributes we are after.
“He forced his way in to first team squad contention at Cardiff through his performances for their under 23 team and what he needs now is to be regularly in and around a first team environment for a few months.
“We have a strong reputation for taking good young players and helping them develop further. Chanka is joining a good squad and a good dressing room and we believe we are well placed for an exciting second half of the season.”
