Luton to face Cambridge away trip in FA Cup 4th Round
Luton Town will take on Cambridge United away from home in the 4th Round of the FA Cup.
The Hatters’ reward for winning their Third Round match at home to Harrogate Town earlier today (09/01) sees them travel to face League One side Cambridge, who registered a shock win away at Premier League outfit Newcastle.
The match at Cambridge’s Abbey Stadium will take place on the weekend of February 4th-7th. An exact date, along with ticket information, will be available in due course.
Mark Bonner’s Cambridge currently sit in 16th place in the League One table, having been promoted from League 2 last season.
Cambridge had already seen off Northampton Town and Exeter City in their first two FA Cup ties, before pulling off a cup upset with a 1-0 win over Newcastle at St James’ Park, courtesy of a second half goal by Joe Ironside.
Luton last faced Cambridge in League 2 in the 2017-18 season. The match at Cambridge ended as a 1-1 draw in March 2018, with the reverse fixture in Bedfordshire ending in a remarkable 7-0 win for the Hatters.
Luton booked their own place in Round 4 with a 4-0 win over League 2 side Harrogate. It is the second season in a row where Luton have made it to the 4th Round, with the team aiming to reach Round 5 for the first time since the 2012-13 season, where a then National League Luton beat Premier League Norwich City at Carrow Road in the 4th Round before bowing out after a loss to Millwall.
