MK Dons defender Zak Jules is to join Fleetwood Town on loan.

The 24-year-old defender will move to the Fylde Coast to join MK Dons’ fellow League One side for the remainder of the currents season.

Jules has featured 27 times since joining the Dons from Walsall in the January 2021 window, having previously began his career at Reading.

However, Jules has found his game time limited in the current season. He has played 12 times in the current campaign, scoring in the Papa John’s Trophy win over Wycombe at stadium mk. He has not appeared in a League One game since a substitute appearance against Crewe in late October.

Jules told the official Fleetwood Town website that he felt it was a good opportunity to get first team game time at a club who also play progressive football.

He said, “Coming here was about playing regular football and having the opportunity to do that, but at the same time, I wanted to be at a club that I felt played the right way. I played against Fleetwood earlier on in the season for MK and it was a total footballing game, I felt it was two sides playing good football, which really stuck with me. When I heard Fleetwood were interested, I wasn’t too focused on any other options that may have been put to me.”

MK Dons Head Coach Liam Manning told the Dons official site that the move was allowed so Jules could play more first team matches.

He said, “I can’t speak highly enough of Zak’s character but he has not played the football he has wanted to.

“We want to support him in terms of his development plan and what he needs to do to progress – we feel getting games at this level will help with that. I think is something that will definitely benefit him and the Club.”
