Non-league side Newport Pagnell Town are one match from reaching Wembley Stadium as they got to the FA Vase semi-finals.

The side from the town near Milton Keynes booked their place in the Vase’s final 4 on Saturday (12/03), after they returned a 2-1 win away at Whitchurch Alport in Shropshire.

Newport Pagnell came from behind to achieve this, as Sean Griffiths had scored an early goal for Whitchurch before Ben Shepherd equalised with a penalty and then Danny Webb won the match for Newport Pagnell just before the hour mark, to the delight of a band of travelling supporters who had made the trip north.

The Swans, who play in the 9th tier of English football in the United Counties League Premier Division South, have gone on their best ever run in the FA Vase competition to this point, with the victory meaning that they will be in the semi-finals of the non-league trophy for the first time.

The draw for the semi-finals will take place on Monday afternoon. The other teams still in the competition alongside Newport Pagnell are Hamworthy United, Loughborough United and Littlehampton Town, with the semi-finals due to take place around Saturday April 2nd and the final itself taking place on non-league finals day alongside the FA Trophy at Wembley on Sunday May 22nd.

Warrington Rylands 1906 are the reigning holders of the FA Vase, beating Berkshire-based side Binfield 3-2 at Wembley in 2021.
