Northampton Town have announced they will play Luton Town in a pre-season friendly at Sixfields.

The Cobblers and the Championship side from Bedfordshire will face one another on July 16th.

Kick-off will be at 1pm, with the game’s ticket details and admission details to be announced in due course.

The match is Northampton’s second announced pre-season friendly at home, following a previously announced home contest against Luton’s fellow Championship side West Bromwich Albion. It is also their fourth overall, along with two games as part of a pre-season training camp in Scotland.

It came on the same day that Luton announced their full pre-season schedule, which will include games against Peterborough and West Ham United.

The two teams last played one another in a competitive fixture in April 2016, when Northampton beat Luton 2-0 at Sixfields before lifting the League 2 trophy. The Hatters did travel to Sixfields for a pre-season friendly in 2020, winning 3-0.

Both sides took part in the play-offs in their respective divisions last season, with Northampton beaten by Mansfield Town in the League 2 play-offs while Luton Town couldn’t get past Huddersfield Town in the Championship equivalent.
