Luton Town will play League 2 side Newport County in the First Round of the Carabao Cup.

The Hatters will host the Exiles at Kenilworth Road in the match, which will take place in the week beginning August 8th.

The date places the match between an away match at Burnley in Luton’s first away game of the season and a home contest against Preston North End.

A specific date, kick-off time and ticket details will be confirmed in due course.

Newport finished 11th in League 2 last season, as the side from South Wales finished six points off the play-offs, despite striker Dom Telford being League 2’s top scorer.

The Hatters’ interest in the Carabao Cup last season was ended immediately, when Nathan Jones’ side were beaten by Stevenage on penalties in the tournament’s First Round last season.

Luton last played Newport in the 2017/18 season, taking 4 points from 2 meetings with the Exiles, including a 3-1 win at Kenilworth Road.
