The fixtures have been released for the 2022/23 season, and MK Dons will start the League One season against Cambridge United.

The opening match will take place on Saturday July 30th, with the Dons’ first assignment seeing them travel to the Abbey Stadium and a return to a venue where they won 1-0 late last season.

MK Dons’ first home match of the season will be a week later, when they host Sheffield Wednesday on August 6th in a reprise of a game with a side MK Dons faced in a live TV game in the run-in.

August then continues for the Dons with games against Ipswich Town, back-to-back home contests with Port Vale and Accrington Stanley, and a trip to Morecambe.

While the Premier League and Championship will have pauses during the World Cup, the Dons will play on, with games in November and early December, as well as the FA Cup second round on the last weekend of November.

MK Dons’ Christmas period includes 3 away games, with Liam Manning’s side travelling to Portsmouth for the last game before Christmas, a visit to Peterborough in the last game of 2022, and a long New Year’s Day trip to Plymouth Argyle. The Boxing Day contest will see MK Dons host Forest Green Rovers, although December does begin with two home games.

At Easter, MK Dons will host Portsmouth on Good Friday and have an Easter Monday trip to play Derby County at Pride Park.

The last match of the 2022/23 regular season will be on May 6th, with the Dons travelling to face Burton Albion at the Pirelli Stadium. The last home game will be against Barnsley one week before.

With Wycombe losing last season’s play-off final, the season also sees a reprise of the Buckinghamshire Derby, in a match contested 5 times last season, including in the play-offs. MK Dons will host the Chairboys on October 22nd, before travelling to Adams Park on April Fool’s Day. Another rival game will come in October, with the Dons hosting Peterborough in the first game of the month.

The match is the first announcement of a big day of fixture announcements, with the Papa John’s Trophy group stage and Carabao Cup first round also taking place later today.
