MK Dons have had their Papa John’s Trophy group confirmed, with games against Cheltenham, Walsall and the West Ham U21s to take place.

Group stage games in August, September and October will kick-off the Dons’ participation in the competition, although the specific fixture order is yet to be confirmed. Under the rules, MK Dons will play two games at home, one of which will be the game against the invited academy side as they must play all group stage games away.

The draw saw the West Ham juniors added to the group that also contains MK Dons today (23/06), with a pre-draw earlier this week confirming the Dons would be paired with the sides from Gloucestershire and the West Midlands.

The group stage is the second of MK Dons’ 2022/23 commitments to be announced today, after the League 1 fixtures were revealed this morning. A draw for the first round of the Carabao Cup is due this afternoon.

MK Dons reached the Round of 16 stage in last season’s Papa John’s Trophy. They qualified as runners-up from a group featuring the Aston Villa U21s, Wycombe Wanderers and Burton Albion, and beat League 2 side Leyton Orient on penalties before being beaten by Charlton at The Valley in early January.

Group stage games will take place in the weeks commencing August 29th, September 19th and October 17th. Specific fixture dates and ticket info will be released in due course.
