MK Dons have confirmed the signing of attacking midfielder Conor Grant from Rochdale.

The 20-year-old moves from Spotland to stadium mk for an undisclosed fee. MK Dons have not described the contract length, but have described it as a “long-term” deal.

Grant is the fifth new arrival at stadium mk so far this summer, following the arrivals of Matt Dennis, Ethan Robson, Jack Tucker and Nathan Holland.

The signing of the Irish youth international was confirmed yesterday (24/06), with Grant moving after 16 months with Rochdale.

Last season, Grant scored 4 goals in 38 appearances for a Rochdale side that finished 18th in the table.

Grant joined Rochdale in February 2021 from Sheffield Wednesday, having joined the Owls’ academy as a teenager from Irish side Shamrock Rovers.

In his first interview with the club, Grant told iFollow MK Dons that he was impressed with Liam Manning and Liam Sweeting’s vision and that he was eager to get started.

He said, “I’m very pleased. I’m delighted to be here and I can’t wait to get started.

“I spoke to Liam Sweeting and the Gaffer earlier in the Summer and I was very impressed by what they had to say. How the Gaffer wants to play and how the Club is run really suits me so hopefully I will fit right in.

“I am player who will always give 100 per cent and I see myself as a creative attacking player who will hopefully keep the fans excited.”

Sporting Director Liam Sweeting added, “Conor is someone we have tracked for a while. He has attributes as an attacking midfielder that suit the way we play, and meeting him recently has shown he also has the character and determination to succeed with us.

“He is capable of building from deep, linking with players in attack and opening the door in terms of goal contributions. After presenting our opportunity to him, it became clear we are an excellent match for each other and I look forward to watching the impact he will have with us this season and beyond.”
