Newport Pagnell Town to visit Congleton Town in FA Vase semis
Newport Pagnell Town have been drawn to face Congleton Town in the semi-finals of the FA Vase.
The competition’s defending holders will travel to Cheshire to face opponents from the North West Counties League Premier Division, with the winners qualifying for the tournament’s finale at Wembley in May.
The match at Congleton Town’s Cleric Stadium will take place on Saturday April 1st. Ticket details will be confirmed in due course.
Congleton Town qualified for the semis by beating Bury AFC at home on penalties in the last round.
In the other semi-final, Wiltshire-based Corsham Town will host Ascot United.
The Swans progressed with a penalty shootout win of their own as they defeated Atherstone Town at Willen Road.
Before the quarter final, Newport Pagnell Town had won previous ties in this season’s FA Vase against Baldock Town, Norwich United, Leighton Town and Jersey Bulls.
Newport Pagnell Town won the competition for the first time in their history last season with a 3-0 win over Littlehampton Town at Wembley in the final, and they are aiming to become the first team to retain the title since Whitley Bay won three FA Vase titles in a row in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
The final will take place at Wembley Stadium in London on Sunday May 21st, as part of a double bill with the FA Trophy.
