Luton Town will take on Bolton Wanderers in the Third Round of the FA Cup at Kenilworth Road.
The contest against a Lancashire-based side currently at the top end of League One will take place on the weekend around Saturday January 6th 2024.
A specific kick-off date, time and ticket details will be announced in due course.
The tie will take place between Luton’s Premier League match at home to Chelsea on Saturday December 30th and their trip to Burnley, which is scheduled for Monday January 15th.
The Hatters were the very first team out of the hat in the draw for the latest stage of the competition, which is the stage that Premier League teams such as the Bedfordshire club enter.
Luton last played Bolton back in 1997, when the two teams faced off in the Third Round of that season’s FA Cup. The two played a 1-1 draw at Kenilworth Road, but Bolton were 6-2 winners when they played the replay at Bolton’s former home ground Burnden Park.
Bolton currently sit 2nd in League One, with Ian Evatt’s side currently only behind Portsmouth in the table.
Wanderers made their way to the Third Round by beating National League side Solihull Moors 4-0 in their first tie before a 5-1 win over Harrogate Town of League Two yesterday (02/12). This tie is the Trotters’ first away cup tie in either of the two major competitions, having been at home in their two Carabao Cup ties.
Luton made it to the 4th Round last season, beating Wigan Athletic after a replay in the Third Round only to be beaten in a replay by Grimsby Town in the Fourth Round.
