Ten man Luton take three points from Grimsby trip
Luton Town won 1-0 at Grimsby Town as they survived a first half red card to extend their lead in League Two.
The Hatters had been reduced to ten men just after half an hour, when the already booked Jordan Cook received a second booking for a foul, and consequently received his marching orders.
But the away side picked up the game’s opening goal just four minutes into the second half, as James Collins turned in the rebound after Luke Berry’s initial free-kick had been turned onto the crossbar by home keeper Ben Killip.
The home side’s best chances came before the sending off, with Jamille Matt denied by Marek Stech and Luke Summerfield seeing a drive hit the crossbar. But the home side were unable to find a way through, and it meant Luton ended a winless run away from Kenilworth Road.
The result means that Luton extended their lead on 2nd place Notts County to 9 points, and on 4th placed Wycombe to 11, although neither was in action due to the FA Cup rescheduling their fixtures.
